Workforce Development Video

The Workforce Development Committee is the newest committee in the MC&MCA structure. Former MC&MCA president Christa Seaberg, then with JE Dunn Construction, was very active with the Construct Tomorrow efforts and after brainstorming with people like Sean Spraungel of All Stacked Up Masonry, John Trout of The Coleman Law Firm, and Barry Blazevic, the committee formed. It became clear that the concrete and masonry construction industry should attempt to reach out to younger people in the schools.

Through discussion with the shop teachers at Maple Grove Middle School and our labor partners, a masonry and concrete construction career event was developed and presented to over 70 grade 7th and 8th grade students on November 7, 2018. The event was held at the BAC Training Center in New Hope with the kids being bussed over. They were treated to a pizza lunch and given some swag for attending. They spent 5 hours working at 10 different concrete and masonry “stations” experiencing the materials and the work situation first hand!

Thanks to our Union Brothers and Sisters that assisted in the effort and covered the 10 “experience stations” for the kids.

Also a special thanks to our sponsors!  These events wouldn't be possible without your help!
