The Union led 'Construct Tomorrow' program is out in full force with a number of events planned throughout Minnesota in 2016/17.  Recently, a host of the Minnesota State Building & Construction Trades Unions including Construction & General Laborers Local 563 (Mankato and Minneapolis representatives), LECET and the Construction Laborers Training Center, participated in a "hands on" career day in Mankato, MN reaching out to over 700 students from 17 area schools.  The goal of the program is to provide information about apprenticeship career training and opportunities in the construction industry.  Food and refreshments for the event were sponsored by Minnesota LECET.

CONTRACTORS:  ARE YOU READY TO COMPLY WITH THE NEW OSHA SILICA STANDARD?

Compliance in the Construction Industry begins on June 23, 2017

The Laborers International Union of North America reacted to the issuance of a new OSHA standard for silica.  "The new OSHA standard for silica is a welcome and long overdue step towards safer job sites," said Terry O'Sullivan, General President of LIUNA.  "The agency should be applauded for their efforts in finalizing the rule and consideration of stakeholder input."

Minnesota LECET is planning a series of SAFETY SEMINARS covering the new OSHA Silica Standard in the first quarter of 2017  Stay tuned for the announcement in December.
