April 11 MN Concrete Forum: Performance Engineered Mixtures - Minnesota (Robert Golish, PE - Minnesota Department of Transportation)  The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), sixteen state departments of transportation, and four national associations representing the concrete paving industry have come together in a pooled fund project to bring together newer testing technologies to maximize concrete pavement performance. Minnesota is currently participating in this multi-year pooled fund project and shadow testing portions of the current AASHTO PP-84 standard practice. As part of this effort, the FHWA brought the mobile concrete trailer (MCT) to the I-35 concrete paving project near Forest Lake, MN. The speaker will share the results from the FHWA MCT as well as additional results from past and upcoming shadow testing projects.

Location is Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville.  Cost is $15 ($10 early-bird).  Registration opens at 9:30 am.  The presentation begins at 10:00 am and will conclude by 11:30 am.

April 18 Breakfast MeetingWhat’s New and Trending in Decorative Concrete (Chris Becker - Solomon Colors). Who ever said concrete has to be boring? Thanks to new products, advanced techniques, and innovative contractors, what was once looked at as a building and construction basic is fast becoming high style. Polished concrete is the fastest-growing sector of decorative concrete industry, but concrete dyes, specialty toppings and thin stamped overlays are also becoming more common. This presentation will cover some of the new and exciting trends in decorative concrete.

Location is Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville. Breakfast is served at 7:15 am. The presentation will begin at 8:00 am and conclude by 9:00 am. Cost to attend is $20 (early-bird members) and $30 (early-bird non-members)

April 25 Decorative Concrete Demonstration: The Decorative Concrete Demonstration will be held at the Local 633 Training Center in New Brighton from 12:30 - 4:00 pm.  Demonstrations will include thin overlays with wood grain texture; decorative metallic epoxy; concrete dimensions stencils, table/bench and steps using form liners and polished topping.  Vendor tabletop displays will be available free of charge to MCC members (with a paid registration).  Please contact Margaret Mills for more details about vendor displays.  Cost to attend is $60 ($40 early-bird).  Click HERE to download an event flier.
