(ACEC MN). The event is NOT limited to engineers.  It is intended for younger members of all three associations (and their guests) who are looking for opportunities to learn more about the construction industry via networking with other young professionals in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

The event will be held at WhirlyBall Twin Cities in Maple Grove.  Registration opens at 3:00 pm followed by a short presentation titled "What I Wish Someone had Taught Me in School: Drawability vs. Constructability."  The presenter will be MCC President, Gary Hahn, PE (Walker Consultants).  WhirlyBall, drinks, food and networking will happen between 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

Cost to attend the event is $25 ($20 early-bird).  You don't have to be a member of MCC, MNSEA or ACEC to attend.  Non-engineers are ENCOURAGED to attend.  Please feel free to invite other concrete-construction related younger professionals to attend as well.

February 8 MN Concrete Forum: The Super Air Meter - MnDOT's Experience
"The Super Air Meter - MnDOT’s Experience" will be presented by Maria Masten, P.E. (Minnesota Department of Transportation)  The Super Air Meter (SAM) is emerging as a new field test for measuring the total air content in the plastic concrete as well as calculating a SAM number which correlates to the spacing factor as determined by ASTM C457.  AASHTO has approved provisional test method AASHTO TP118-17, Standard Method of Test for Characterization of the Air-Void System of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Sequential Pressure Method.  Ms. Masten will discuss MnDOT’s investigation of the Super Air Meter over the previous 3 years of construction projects.  In addition, the speaker will lay out MnDOT’s vision for implementation of the SAM as well as MnDOT’s movement towards Performance Engineered Concrete Mix Designs for concrete paving projects.

The meeting will be held February 8, 2018 at Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville.  Registration opens at 9:30 am.  The presentation will begin at 10:00 am.  Q&A will begin at 11:00 am.  The event will conclude no later than 11:30 am. There is no charge to attend, but pre-registration is required because space is limited.
