MC&MCA Strong at the 2017 AIA Minnesota Convention

MC&MCA did it up big at the November 14-17 AIA Convention held at the Minneapolis Convention Center! For the second year, MC&MCA Marketing Director Elena Peltsman organized 14 MC&MCA members into a “focused’ physical arrangement called “Masonry Street.” This generated a lot of interest, foot traffic, and allowed architects and other attendees to “get into the masonry mindset,” visiting with one or all of the masonry centered companies, displays, services and product lines.

The Masonry Street layout received positive comment from attendees and exhibitors. The “Masonry Street” overhead ceiling-hung sign (10’ x 4’) was “highly” visible!

Beer + Masonry Street proved to be a winning combination and generated a lot of foot traffic. Once again this year several of our booths sponsored draft beer at the opening night.

The MC&MCA booth was well supported by members Marthe Brock of BASF Construction Systems, Denver O’Brien of Amcon Concrete Products, a TCC Materials Company and Chris Flegel of The Builders Group Safety Services helping cover the booth. Thank you all!

Special thanks to Doug Schroeder (pictured below) and the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union 1 MN/ND crew for organizing the hands-on display. It was a showstopper! Architects and attendees loved seeing the block & brick come together in a mockup wall panel.

MC&MCA was selected to present an expanded version of the current Architectural Program Presentation. About 210 people attended the presentation. Peltsman outlined the program concept and coordinated the efforts of team members. Pictured (below, from left to right) is MC&MCA Marketing Director Peltsman serving as the program moderator and team members Robert Mack, FAIA, FAPT of MacDonald & Mack Architects, Tom Miller of Advanced Masonry Restoration and Dustin Sly of American Masonry Restoration.

The team received substantial positive feedback from convention attendees and MC&MCA members who attended the presentation.
