January Annual Meeting

With the new year brings a new fiscal year for the MC&MCA. The 2019 budget will be reviewed and hopefully approved at the December 27 board meeting. The board will share highlights of the past year and the budget goals for the new year with attendees of the annual meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 16 at Grumpy’s in Roseville. The meeting is set to start at 4:30 PM and end by 6 PM. In addition to a summary of the activities of the association in 2018, we will be updating the members on labor negotiations. Current three-year labor contracts are scheduled to expire on April 30, 2019. MC&MCA negotiations will be led by Mike Hart from American Masonry Restoration and Jim Turitto of Bulach Custom Rock. Other team members will be announced in January. The MC&MCA works jointly with the AGC in these important negotiations.

Another key element to our annual meeting is the election of officers and a new board of directors. The MC&MCA board is composed of five officers and 10 board members. Those 10 board members are required to represent at least 4 masonry and/or concrete contractors, 2 general contractors, and 4 associates/supplier. The by-laws were amended recently to allow for a range of 15-18 board members. The board meets monthly, usually at the association office in Roseville. Board members are asked to serve on one of the three main committees: marketing, membership services, or workforce development. These committees normally meet once a month. Board terms are two years and incumbent board members can run for re-election.

If you are interested in representing your company and running for the board or have questions, contact Gary Botzek directly. If you wish to get active in one of the committees first to “test the water,” please also reach out to Gary. We are always looking for “a few good men and women!”
