Happy New Year from MC&MCA!

By Gary Botzek, Executive Director

2017 was another good year for the concrete and masonry construction in Minnesota. Hours worked remained high even with the US Bank Viking Stadium done and in service. The MC&MCA had another successful year, as well. Our membership remains high with 10 new members added this year. Our new directory is out. Let us know if you would like one mailed to you! We carried out a very nice Excellence Awards contest and banquet. We held a nice golf outing and bird hunt. But most importantly we continued to market hard to architects and other decisionmakers the many benefits of masonry materials and a unionized workforce.

The MC&MCA is dues driven. Dues invoices for 2018 will be out soon. Please strongly consider staying an active MC&MCA contractor, supplier, or service provider. We will be running a membership recruitment contest in 2018 to grow our membership even more.

We hope your company can and will attend the Thursday, January 18 Annual Meeting starting at 4:30 PM at Grumpy’s Bar & Grill in Roseville.

At the annual meeting we will be electing a new board of directors and officers for 2018-19. Watch for the ballot soon. Let me know if your company would like to run someone for the board. We also have active committee spots to fill!

At the annual meeting we will review and approve the 2018 budget, elect the new board, and get an update on marketing plans for 2018.

Also please note the Excellence Awards banquet registration form is included in this newsletter. Author, journalist, and former architecture critic Larry Millett will deliver a keynote address on the history and importance of concrete and masonry in the architecture of Minnesota. Please be sure to join us on Saturday, February 17 starting with a 5:30 PM social. Details are on the registration form.

Thanks to all our great members. The Concrete and Masonry Construction Industry can be proud of its strong reputation! We believe that the MC&MCA assists in that strong reputation.
