Associate of the Year | Larry Thompson | American Artstone Company

Each year the MC&MCA recognizes a person or company as MC&MCA’s Associate of the Year. The board and general membership would like to congratulate the Associate of the Year for his work and leadership over the years in the concrete and masonry industry and for their involvement in the MC&MCA.

Our “Associate of the Year” is Larry Thompson.

Larry Thompson is President of American Artstone Company.

Larry has BS and MA degrees in Public Administration and Economics from the Minnesota State University of Mankato. He is a CSI Quality Control Technician and an AIA CES Certified Instructor in Architectural Design with Cast Stone.

Larry spent the first 20 years of his career as a city manager in various developing suburbs.

He spent 11 years as a VP project manager in residential and commercial development, which gave him the experience to understand and the knowledge to help solve real world challenges that his customers encounter.

Serving on the board of directors and various committees, the MC&MCA has helped Larry gain a better understanding of the many issues facing contractors and it has also provided the opportunity to give back to the industry.

A few of his notable projects include the Lyndale Avenue Bridge, which was an extremely difficult project from an engineering and manufacturing perspective, the U of M Northrop Auditorium Renovation, Gunderson Hospital in Lacrosse, Folkstone at the Promenade in Wayzata, the U of M NHCC Bio Science, and 7 Vines Vineyard.

In his free time, Larry enjoys golfing, spending time at his cabin, college football, and grandchildren!

Larry could not be with us today so I will accept award for him and see to it that he receives it officially at our next board meeting!
