Annual AIA MN Conference A Job Well Done Again!

Annual AIA MN Conference
A Job Well Done Again!

For the 3rd year in a row, the MC&MCA actively participated in the AIA MN Conference held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on November 13-16.

Recognizing that we are stronger when working together, 14 MC&MCA members and partners co-located in aisle 4 of the exhibit hall creating "the Masonry Street" to showcase our industry, member services and products.

With great confidence we can tell that Masonry Street attracted more foot traffic, generated more interest and excitement than any other aisle at the Convention Hall! We thank the MC&MCA members, partners and volunteers for their time, dedication and enthusiasm that made the Masonry Street such a successful event!

Under the leadership of the Marketing Committee co-chairs Mark Severson of American Artstone Company and Tom Miller of Advanced Masonry Restoration, we have successfully implemented a new initiative - sponsoring the Happy Hour on the second night of the convention to help attract more foot traffic and interest to our area.

  •  AIA advertised this event in the Program, Pre-show ads & daily announcements
  •  Every booth had an elegantly displayed appetizer tray
  • Centrally located Association booth had a keg of beer with customized hand-out cups featuring the MC&MCA logo
  • Decorative balloons framed the hallway of the Masonry Street adding a more festive and celebratory look, bringing increased attention to the area
  • The promotional giveaways included customized pens and beer cups with the MC&MCA logo and the “Complimentary Membership for Architects“

The following organizations took part in the 2018 Masonry Street:  American Artstone Company, Amcon Concrete Products, Stoneworks Architectural Precast/Cast Stone, JE Dunn Construction, International Masonry Institute (IMI), Advanced Masonry Restoration, MC&MCA and Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union 1 MN/ND (sharing a booth), MN Brick & Tile, Adolfson & Peterson Construction, American Masonry Restoration, Axel H. Ohman, Anchor Block and County Materials Corporation. Thank you all again, we are stronger when working together!

Special thanks goes to the MC&MCA partner and booth neighbor, the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union 1 MN/ND (BAC-1), where John Slama worked tirelessly building the actual masonry wall, demonstrating the hands-on-experience, attracting many convention attendees and generating excitement and high interest.
