Program

BIM Tools for Masonry

The BIM for Masonry initiative (BIM-M) has developed a tool set for modeling masonry within
REVIT and other applications. Join Mark Swanson for an overview of how free BIM-M plugins
and software can be used to increase the overall level of masonry detailing, leading to safer and more efficient masonry wall design and construction. Topics to include accurate virtual coursing, bond beam and rebar tools, and minimizing field unit cuts from non-modular dimensioning.

After the seminar attendees will be able to:

1. Explore no-cost masonry modeling tools via download from BIM-M related websites.
2. Discuss how virtual coursing can be used to increase overall masonry detailing.
3. Explain how the BIM-M bond beam and rebar tool can assist with clash detection.
4. Relate how minimizing field unit cutting with BIM-M tools can reduce silica exposure.
