Stone Anchoring Detailing and Design

This presentation focuses on anchoring large-scale stone and is generally applicable to both natural quarried/cut stone and cast stone.  Design considerations to be discussed include stone size and shape, and the impact of the backup system on anchor capacity and overall movement of the stone.  Available design information from codes and standards, published industry technical guides, and the presenter’s own experience incorporating FEA software analysis will also be discussed.involved.

This presentation addresses the movement characteristics of vertical masonry wall systems, and compares the differences between architectural veneer and structural reinforced masonry.  Focus is on best practice for design and construction of expansion and control joints to accommodate and/or restrict masonry material movement.

While this seminar will be geared towards architects, engineers, construction managers, owners, general contractors, BAC signatory contractors, and anyone interested in masonry is also welcome to join.
